The Kerala Cabinet has decided to introduce an amnesty scheme offering a 50% reduction in fines for pending traffic violations that occurred up to December 31, 2024 in the State.
The decision was taken on the basis of a recommendation from the Transport Commissioner to encourage vehicle owners to settle long-pending e-challan cases.
Vehicle owners can avail themselves of the concession on traffic violation fines if they clear the dues on or before April 30.
It was observed that many vehicle owners have been reluctant to settle e-challans because several vehicles have multiple pending violations, and some offences carry comparatively high fines. As a result, the number of unresolved e-challan cases has been rising significantly.
