US congress members question why there have been no arrests in America in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation while global media described the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as ‘unprecedented’

Countries around the world reacted with shock at the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor earlier today.

Newspapers, TV stations and magazines across Europe and beyond described the arrest as unprecedented in modern history. It was described as a ‘bombshell for the British monarchy’ in America. Politicians of all parties pointed out that no one had been arrested in the United States despite the investigation into billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

Former US Congresswoman and Republican rebel Marjorie Taylor Greene posted: “We have had zero Epstein arrests since the release of the files. Look what the British government is doing. Look what the American government is doing. Nothing.”

The Democrats on the House of Representatives’ oversight committee, which campaigned for the release of the Epstein files, said: “No one connected to Jeffrey Epstein will escape accountability for their crimes”. They added: “Our work is just beginning, and we will pursue justice for every individual who participated in the abuse of women and girls.”

Democratic congresswoman Melanie Stansbury called for Donald Trump to be held to account. Trump has also always denied any wrongdoing despite knowing Epstein. He says the pair fell out and has boasted of bringing new scrutiny to the Epstein files.

Donald Trump acknowledged the former Duke of York’s arrest speaking to reporters on board Air Force one as he flew to Georgia. He said: “I’m the expert in a way because I’ve been totally exonerated. That’s very nice. I can actually speak about it very nicely.

“I think it’s a shame. I think it’s so bad for the Royal Family. It’s a very, very sad… to me it’s a very sad thing. When I see that, it’s a very sad thing to see it. And to see what’s going on with [Charles’] brother, who’s obviously coming to our country very soon, and he’s a fantastic man, the King.

I think it’s a very sad thing. It’s really interesting because nobody used to speak about Epstein when he was alive, but now they speak. But I’m the one that can talk about because I was completely exonerated. I did nothing. In fact the opposite. He was against me. He was fighting me in the election, which I just found out in the last 3 million pages of documents.”

Democrat Suhas Subramanyam said: “He [Andrew] appears repeatedly in the documents we have uncovered as having knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and is specifically named by victims as someone who engaged in wrongdoing. Yet he has continued to ignore our calls to cooperate with the oversight committee’s investigation.

“We hope today’s arrest will lead to answers and show that there will be accountability even if you hide, regardless of how rich and powerful you are.”

US channel CNN and the New York Times described the arrest as ‘unprecedented’. People magazine said Andrew was the first member of the royal family to be arrested in centuries.

Bild, Germany’s biggest selling tabloid newspaper, described it as a ‘bombshell for the monarchy.’ The German magazine Bunte said that it ‘did not mean he has committed any crimes but it is nonetheless a milestone.’

7News Australia said it showed that even Andrew was not above the law. In Wales, Eluned Morgan, the first minister, was “shocked” by the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. She said: “I think we’ve all been shocked by what’s been happening.

“Clearly, now there’s been an arrest, and it’s in police hands, I can’t comment further, but it’s a serious situation. But everybody should be treated the same.”

The Russian foreign ministry said the arrest showed Britain “should have addressed its own problems long ago”.
