The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) shared an update on X this evening confimring that the first UK charter flight has landed and urging British nationals to follow the latest travel advice
The first UK charter flight has left Muscat, Oman the Foreign Office has confirmed this evening.
It comes after Donald Trump has offered air support and weapons to Kurdish fighters willing to invade Iran, according to reports.
Trump has offered “extensive US aircover” to the anti-regime Iranian Kurds, sources told the Washington Post. The news comes amid reports that the US and Israel are working to arm Kurdish militias in Iran and Iraq with the goal of sending them to fight Iran’s Republican Guard forces on the ground.
In response to the latest reports, Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian has vowed to crack down on any Kurdish fighters aiming to topple Tehran. He said: “The armed forces responsible for security are obliged to deal decisively with any separatist activity.”

The Foreign Office has been sharing new advice amid the war in the Middle East. Several holiday hotspots, such as Syria, Egypt and United Arab Emirates, are all being impacted.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)’s list, which is constantly being updated, includes holiday hotspots, such as Thailand, Egypt and United Arab Emirates. Flights in and out of Dubai, which is in the United Arab Emirates, were suspended on the weekend and Brits there remain stranded.
Keir Starmer has insisted the UK Government will help keep Brits abroad safe. However, his FCDO team has listed 76 countries Brits should avoid for the time, some of them due to the conflict that has spilled out across the region. Of 226 countries or territories with foreign travel advice pages, 76 are currently flagged as having no-go zones.
The FCDO shared an update on X this evening sharing the update and urging British nationals to follow the latest travel advice. An update on the government website on March 5 now states: “A link for British nationals in Lebanon to register their presence with the UK government has been added.”
